Manchester United could be about to cut their losses where Memphis Depay is concerned, with reports coming out of The Sun stating that a move to the German Bundesliga could be in the offing when the January transfer window opens in a couple of months time.
The 22-year-old cost Manchester United £25million just over twelve months ago, and he made a steady start to life at the Theatre of Dreams. As the season progressed, though, he struggled to adapt to the physicality of the English game, and by the end of the campaign, his confidence was completely shot.
Wolfsburg are the interested party, and that’d definitely be a good fit for him. He’d get to play regularly and show exactly what he is capable of. He is an outstanding player, and I’ve no doubts he’ll succeed wherever he ends up.
It would be a huge shame to see Memphis Depay leave, particularly after coming to Manchester United with so much promise and hype around him. However, he hasn’t delivered during the chances he has had, and at a club as big as United, you only get a certain amount of chances to succeed and prove your worth.
