It comes as no real shock to see that United are in the market for a new centre-back this summer, but at this point, nothing has really materialised.
Now, according to French media outlet L’Equipe, per The Sun, Jose Mourinho has rejected an outgoing centre-back transfer; by shutting down Lyon’s move for Victor Lindelof.
Apparently, the Ligue 1 outfit were keen on signing the Ice Man this summer, but the Red Devils have turned any deal down. Whether that’s due to the club failing to sign anyone, or Mourinho actually thinking Lindelof has what it takes to play regularly at Old Trafford remains to be seen.
One thing is for certain, though. Lindelof had an excellent World Cup, his game is seemingly improving all the time. With another full pre-season under his belt at United, the only way is up for him.
If United can slowly ease him back into the mix, there is still time for Lindelof to prove his worth as a regular starter. Now, it’s down to him to force his way into the starting line-up which isn’t going to be easy. His job will be made even more difficult if, in fact, a new player is signed in that area.
