Manchester United Football Club has confirmed the release of defenders Jake Barrett and Harry Spratt, per the Manchester Evening News.
Apparently, the talented youngsters have already found themselves a new home, with Huddersfield Town swiftly snapping them up. In fact, Barrett, who is originally from Huddersfield, has already made his youth debut for his new side.
We’re at the time of year when we’ll be seeing more players released as the season draws to it’s close, and what’s the point of keeping talented lads on if they’re not going to receive the playing time that their ability deserves.
Spratt, in particular, has struggled here; although largely due to injury which he obviously cannot do anything about. Hopefully, his move to Yorkshire will kickstart his fledgeling career and he can put that time on the treatment table behind him.
As for Barrett, he’ll feel as though he’s right back at home and that can only be a good thing for his confidence.
Good luck to both these young lads and I hope they go on to have extremely successful careers.
