Manchester United Football Club had an extremely intense U21 fixture against Liverpool on Monday night, and the surprise selection in the line-up was Marouane Fellaini. The midfielder has been left on the bench for the last few senior fixtures, so for him to get minutes under his belt was essential.
“I thought his attitude was first class.” Warren Joyce began. “I obviously know him from being around the building [the Aon Training Complex] and having discussions with him.”
“I have always thought he was a good professional and he demonstrated that on Monday night.”
It was brilliant to see Fellaini put in a performance like that. Many professionals would have sulked if they were dropped down to the U21s, but the Belgian didn’t get down about it and made a real game of it.
Hopefully Louis van Gaal was watching on and saw just how spirited his display was, and I’d like to see Fellaini be considered seriously for a start against West Ham this weekend.
