Manchester United see their approach for unsung hero rejected

Earlier in the week it was revealed that Manchester United’s long-term Head of Youth Development, Eric Langley, was going to leave the club after becoming disillusioned with life at Old Trafford. Today, their approach for a replacement was turned down by the man himself.

The news comes from The Times, who say that Tottenham Hotspur’s John McDermott has rejected an approach from Manchester United to take over Langley’s post.

This must be a bitter blow for Louis van Gaal and the Manchester United board, who would have obviously thought he’d accept the offer to come to one of the so-called bigger teams in the country.

However sadly it seems like a sign of the times and the way Manchester United are going at the moment, and McDermott clearly feels that Tottenham Hotspur have got more to offer the youth coach at this point in time – which is obviously a real bitter blow.
