Manchester United slumped to a 0-0 draw at home to Newcastle United yesterday, and the lack of a real quality centre-forward was on display for all to see. Today, according to Jason Burt, Manchester United have been offered Alexandre Pato for £11million, and they are seriously considering the move.
Pato, 25, was touted as being one of the best young players in world football a few years ago but his career went rapidly downhill, and he is now plying his trade back in his home country for Sao Paulo.
Injuries have hampered him throughout his career and it seems like he has been around forever yet Pato is only 25. If he can re-find form and stay fit he could be a shrewd signing.
£11million is a bit of a risk however, but he has a great goalscoring record for his current side scoring a goal every other game. The Premier League will obviously be much tougher however, but he’d only be a backup to Wayne Rooney and if he still has that genuine pace, he could be a handful.
