Manchester United set to complete major outgoing transfer in next 48 hours: report

I think we all would have liked to see Wayne Rooney go out on a high, but sadly, that doesn’t look like happening. After a poor season it seems as though he’ll be making a return to Everton, and now the Daily Mirror says that any deal could be finalised within the next 48 hours.

Rooney, 31, apparently has his heart set on a return to Goodison Park and he also feels as though it will help him as he looks to try and force his way back into Gareth Southgate’s England setup.

The player and his advisers are apparently trying to finalise a switch, and it would make sense that a deal could be done within the next 48 hours, as two days from now, the Manchester United squad will be jetting off for their pre-season tour of the United States of America.

This is a man who is currently the record goalscorer for both club and country, and it will be absolutely gutting to see him leave Manchester United. But, the time is right and it is definitely in the best interests of all parties to let him go.

His touch looks to have his deserted him, as has his pace and power that was once such a vital part of his game. Who knows, a move back home may allow him to reignite that fire in his belly and potentially, he could return to his best. For me though, the time is right.
