Manchester United are set to hand Alexis Sanchez the iconic number seven jersey, if he moves to the club this summer. That’s what The Metro says, who cite reports in the 29-year-old’s homeland.
Out of absolutely nowhere, my opinion is that United are now leading the race to sign the world-class Arsenal star, and what a scintillating piece of business this will be if Jose Mourinho could pull it off.
This is a player who can single-handedly turn the Red Devils into a club who can challenge on all fronts, and he’d bring even more firepower to an already stacked attacking line.
Pulling this off in the mid-season transfer window would be a huge accomplishment for Edward Woodward, and it’s only fitting that Sanchez is handed one of Manchester United’s iconic jersey numbers.
Now it’s down to the club to get this deal over the line as quickly as possible. Heck, give the player and his agent whatever he wants, because it’s not every day you get the opportunity to sign one of the best in the business – and United should do everything in their power to seal this sensational signing.
