Manchester United are set to complete a move for defensive midfielder, Ethan Galbraith, this weekend. That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who add that the man from County Antrim, Northern Ireland, will join Kieran McKenna’s U18 setup for pre-season training.
After being scouted whilst playing for Linfield U16s, Galbraith was invited for a Manchester United trial, as he performed alongside Angel Gomes. After impressing, it looks as though the young man has secured himself a full deal.
Despite being just 16, the defensive midfielder is already a captain at Northern Irish youth level which tells you a lot about his leadership abilities and mindset.
As always, when bringing in a youngster it is somewhat of a gamble as you never know exactly how they’ll cope on the biggest of stages – that’s if they even make it that far.
However, it is a part of Manchester United’s DNA to invest time in youth and give those teenagers all the tools that they need to succeed.
I’m sure that Galbraith will enjoy his time with McKenna’s young Red Devils side who looked pretty impressive last year; fronted by the aforementioned star Angel Gomes, who made his full United debut on the last day of the season.
