Well, it looks like Manchester United will not be signing Fabinho after all. According to the usually reliable Duncan Castles, who writes for the Daily Record, Paris Saint-Germain are close to securing the signature of the 23-year-old.
Castles writes that a deal for the AS Monaco man has ‘aggressively progressed’ with PSG seemingly trying to strengthen themselves while weakening a title rival in the process. Finally, Castles adds that PSG’s attempt to secure the player were significantly more advanced, hinting that the Red Devils probably didn’t want him as much as the media wrote.
Fabinho has been heavily linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams this summer, and personally, I’m gutted because I think he’d have been a wonderful acquisition and he would have gone an awfully long way as to improving our midfield.
This latest report on Fabinho comes just a week after the Brazilian admitted that the opportunity to work with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United would be tempting, but now it doesn’t look like he’ll get his wish.
It clearly seems as though Mourinho has his eyes firmly set elsewhere, however, with Nemanja Matic now the name that is coming to the fore.
I built my hopes up rather prematurely at the thought of signing the AS Monaco man, and whilst it will be a shame to see him signing for someone else, I guess we have to put our full trust in our manager.
