Manchester United set to make staggering cash plus player deal for Cristiano Ronaldo: report

Manchester United are set to make a huge offer to try and tempt Real Madrid into selling Cristiano Ronaldo. That’s according to The Mirror, who say the Red Devils are ready to offer £175million – plus David de Gea to secure the services of the 32-year-old.

Jose Mourinho is prepared to use his #1 as bait to lure the Portugal star into making a sensational return to the Theatre of Dreams, whilst smashing the world record in the process.

Honestly, this is just an absurd amount of money. I’ve always been a believer in a club paying whatever they want to sign a player – but this one would be way too far over the mark for me to be on board with it.

It’s almost double what United paid to bring a 23-year-old Paul Pogba with ten years service ahead of him; with David de Gea, the best goalkeeper in the world, on top of that.

I love Ronaldo, and he’s the best player I’ve ever seen. It just doesn’t make good business sense to bring him back for so much money. Imagine if he suffers a serious injury like Ibrahimovic? It’d be money down the drain – and that’s a huge gamble to take.
