Manchester United Football Club seem to be being linked with every name under the sun at the moment – which is rather normal considering the United brand sells papers galore. Now, another report coming out of France has linked us with a rather odd bit of business.
The media outlet in question is Foot Mercato, and they say that Jose Mourinho is considering making a shock move for French midfielder, Lassana Diarra.
Now 31, Diarra currently plies his trade for Marseille in his home country, but he has previously worked with Jose Mourinho on a couple of occasions. First at Chelsea, then at the Santiago Bernabeu with Real Madrid.
The report adds that United won’t be the only side sniffing around signing ‘Lass’ with the Chinese Super League also interested, and we all know the spending power they possess.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind this deal. If Morgan Schneiderlin does indeed leave the Theatre of Dreams during this window, then we’d definitely need an extra body in the middle of the park. Surely a 31-year-old Diarra would be much happier on the bench than Schneiderlin – and I’d even go as far as saying Diarra can’t do any worse than Morgan…
He wouldn’t be too expensive either, and obviously Jose Mourinho knows his game pretty well, so he realises exactly the type of footballer he’d be buying.
