Manchester United show an interest in signing former youth product

Manchester United’s lack of experienced centre-backs is startling considering the amount of money spent bolstering our attacking line in the summer. Yesterday night, we were linked with Aston Villa’s captain Ron Vlaar, and today its the turn of a former Manchester United youth graduate who is know playing his football at Stoke City – Ryan Shawcross.

It was always going to be tough to sign a world class centre-back in the winter transfer window, but Ryan Shawcross is an extremely solid centre-back.. His experience would be vital in the second half of the season, and more importantly, he can stay fit for long periods, unlike our current trio of senior centre-backs [Jones, Evans & Smalling].

The Daily Star also back up the story from the Express last night, in regards to Ron Vlaar costing around £12million.

The 27-year old centre-back has played over 200 times for Stoke, and is their current captain. He also has one cap for England.

Would Shawcross be a good signing? Leave your thoughts in the comment box below.
