Manchester United are looking extremely thin on the ground in terms of strikers in the squad at the moment, and that has just been made even worse, as James Wilson has left Old Trafford on loan until the end of the season. He has joined Brighton & Hove Albion.
“There were a lot of clubs interested (in taking me on loan), but there was only one horse in the race for me.” Wilson began. “Brighton is a brilliant club and I think the style of play will suit my game, so that was the basis behind my decision.”
“You have to think ‘How can I develop as a player?’ Manchester United agreed that it was a good move for me to go out on loan.” The young striker added.
“I asked Jesse Lingard for some advice too, and about what it was like here. He told me it’s a great club.”
Jesse Lingard obviously spent some time on loan at Brighton back in 2014, so he’ll be able to give Wilson an idea of what its like down on the coast.
It’ll be great for Wilson to get some regular playing time under his belt, and the gaffer has confirmed that there is a call-back clause in the contract if necessary.
