Manchester United could’ve just been dealt a hammer blow ahead of the upcoming derby against fierce rivals City. Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan looks likely to miss the huge clash after picking up an injury whilst playing for his national team.
Although the injury isn’t thought to be too serious, the game against Pep Guardiola’s men is going to come just too soon for the 27-year-old, as this problem will take around ten days to heal; claim Sky Sports.
This is a huge shame for none moreso than Henrikh Mkhitaryan himself. He had found himself on the bench at the start of the season, but came on against Hull City and made a real difference for Mourinho’s men.
However, the Portuguese manager will have to cope without Mkhitaryan for the derby as he won’t want to risk further damage to his thigh. This is why international breaks in the middle of the season really aren’t helpful, because our players can come back in a much worse state in which they left.
