Manchester United star told to wait another week before making comeback from injury

Manchester United’s injury issues certainly seem to be easing up of late, with only Bastian Schweinsteiger currently on the treatment table. However plenty of players are on their way back from lengthy periods out, one of which is our club captain Wayne Rooney.

United’s U21 side took on Chelsea last night with Rooney expected to be involved, but unfortunately the game came too soon for him and he wasn’t able to play.

According to the Daily Mail, the 29-year old will have to get another week of training under his belt before taking to the pitch with United’s reserve side against Middlesbrough next Monday.

Its a tough conundrum with Wayne Rooney. The side have certainly looked much more fluid in his absence, but his leadership qualities have not been there. It won’t be easy for him to break back into the team, but Louis van Gaal seems extremely loyal to his captain, and we’ll no doubt see him starting in the not too distant future.
