Manchester United succumbed to defeat in the Champions League on Tuesday night, as they were dumped out of the competition for another year. Louis van Gaal made one huge decision in that match that didn’t go down well with the fans, and judging by the latest reports, the players weren’t happy either.
James Ducker of the Times wrote a column on the incident which involved Juan Mata being substituted midway through the second half, with Nick Powell coming on in his place.
Mata was playing a superb game, and it was Powell’s first appearance in over a year. The Spaniard was left fuming at the decision, and Ducker says he wasn’t the only one, with members of the first-team squad letting Louis van Gaal know that they didn’t like his decision whatsoever. You feel as though once you’ve lost the dressing room as a manager, its always tough to get it back, so he must be treading on a thin line at this point in time…
