Manchester United still trying to sign Bayern superstar

Manchester United’s summer transfer window has ground to a halt at this moment in time, with the club still actively pursuing several transfer targets to improve the first-team squad before the window slams shut at the start of September.

According to the German media outlet Kicker, Manchester United are still trying to bring in that world class name this summer, and they say Thomas Muller is still a top transfer target.

Muller, 25, is already a Bayern and Germany legend, and prising him away from Bavaria would certainly be tough and expensive. The versatile striker is exactly the type of player that Louis van Gaal loves, and the two have previously worked together before too.

There is no doubting that Muller would be a world class signing and it probably wouldn’t take him long to displace Wayne Rooney in the main striker role, but I highly doubt this move will happen at all, never mind this summer.

Would Muller be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.

  1. Why do United persist with trying to sign players who are NOT interested in moving to Old Trafford?
Time and money is spent on these players when others are immediately required such as a central defender and a striker who WILL come to OT!
Van Gaal and Woodward need to get their priorities right and go for players that a) are available and b) will not arse around playing games to increase their salary at their current club!
There are surely players with ‘buy-out’ clauses who fit with LVG’s ideas and one of them Otamendi is a central defender but LVG & EW won’t pay the asking price (although they have lost money on Di Maria!) and Otamendi will end up signing for someone else…. maybe City?
It will serve them right if he does!

  2. This one is completely baffling! Why would United want a “striker” who only managed 21 goals in ALL competitions last season? This translates to not many in any competition. They already look pretty stupid for having bought the idiot Di Maria. Don’t make the same mistake again.
