Manchester United striker to miss CSKA Moscow game through illness

Manchester United will be without the young striker James Wilson, on their trip to Russia to take on CSKA Moscow, Louis van Gaal has confirmed. The young striker has an illness that his currently keeping him sidelined, after making his first appearance of the season against Arsenal a fortnight ago.

The 19-year old striker has found competitive minutes hard to come by under the Iron Tulip, and there was talk of him going out on loan earlier on in the period, but that never came to fruition.

“Willo was a little bit ill – Wilson as he is named but, for us, it is Willo – so he shall not travel with us.” Louis van Gaal said.

“I’ll take 20 players with me. It’s a four-hour flight so, if a player gets ill, I have the other player in my environment.

“Of course that was the reason [Romero and Valencia were absent at Everton]. They have to cope with the jet-lag so I didn’t think it was wise to take them with us against Everton.”

At least we’ll have two strikers on the trip, with Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial both set to travel to CSKA. We’ll also be boosted by the return of Antonio Valencia and Sergio Romero who’ll add some extra quality in depth.
