Manchester United struggling to tie down 29-year-old to new contract: report

Manchester United Football Club are struggling to tie Marouane Fellaini down to a new contract, reports the Daily Mail, as per The Metro. The 29-year-old has always been a bit-part player at Old Trafford, but he’s yet to sign the new contract that is on the table.

According to the report, the 6’5 Belgian is unsatisfied with the deal that’s currently on the table for him, and he feels he should be alongside Paul Pogba’s pay-grade due to what he has contributed to the team this season.

First of all, he’s absolutely absurd if he reckons that he should be earning anything close to Pogba. The Frenchman is one of the best players on the planet, whereas Fellaini is nothing more than a useful squad player.

Yes, he’s useful in certain scenarios but I don’t think I’m the only United fan who wouldn’t be all that bothered if Jose Mourinho decided to move him on.

Getting a chance to play at a club like Manchester United doesn’t come around every day, and if Fellaini is going to throw that away in search for more money, then that’s his prerogative. Personally, I wouldn’t give in to his demands whatsoever. Let him leave for free if he wants to, but I’m sure he’ll come crawling back before the season is out.
