Manchester United have been rather quiet in terms of players leaving Old Trafford thus far. However, that may be about to change. According to HITC, the Red Devils are about to let Regan Poole leave on a loan deal, with League One side Northampton Town set to acquire his services.
The centre-half made the move to the Red Devils back in September 2015, after impressing whilst playing for Newport County. Since then, he has become a regular for the U23s team, whilst also making his first-team debut in the Europa League.
At 19, it is the perfect time for him to go out and get some first-team football. He didn’t make a competitive appearance last term and he needs to be playing regularly to further his career.
A move to League One will allow him to play every week without the pressure that is playing in the Premier League, and it can only be a good thing for his career going forward.
Whenever I’ve watched him, Poole looks like a top talent who has plenty of potential. He’s shown a maturity beyond his years whilst playing for the youth side, and now switching to actual competitive football is another step up for him, and it’ll be interesting to see how he gets on.
