Manchester United target Dutch right-back Daryl Janmaat

According to the Daily Mail this morning, Manchester United and Louis van Gaal are plotting a move for Holland international Daryl Janmaat. Janmaat, 24, is currently the national sides right-back, and he also plays his club football in the Netherlands, for Feyenoord.

As you’d expect, we’ve previously been linked with other Holland players including Nigel de Jong and Daley Blind, so for now take these rumours with a pinch of salt.

it would be nice if we did sign a right-back though, because Rafael needs some real competition in that spot to keep him focused. Look at how Patrice Evra reacted when Manchester United brought in Alex Buttner.

i expect there to be no movement in the transfer market for at least a couple of weeks now, purely due to the World Cup knockout rounds commencing, and if we’re in for players who are currently involved, they aren’t going to move until their nation are knocked out.

Would Janmaat be first choice? Or would Rafael still hold that position? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
