Speculation has been growing all week regarding the imminent announcement of Louis van Gaal as Manchester United manager, however today we learnt that we’ll have to wait a little while longer. According to Sky Sports and others, Van Gaal will be announced as United boss next week.
The board and hierarchy at the club have decided to wait until the season has finished to announce the new manager, and although we all want the deal done as soon as possible, it does make sense. Ryan Giggs is still interim boss, and it would be a bit rude to announce a new boss before he has finished his time in charge of the club, plus it’d put the players minds into thoughts about next season.
I, for one cannot wait for next season. Louis van Gaal will hopefully get Manchester United playing like one of the best teams in Europe again, and if we can bring in some of the huge names we’ve been linked with, I have no doubt we’ll be back at the top of the pile soon.
Van Gaal has Dutch commitments to attend to before getting stuck in at Old Trafford, but it is believed that he has already drawn up a list of transfer targets. That list includes the likes of Marco Reus, Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller.
