Manchester United to hijack move for defender

Manchester United’s much-maligned defence has looked extremely stable at the start of the campaign, but there are much tougher tests ahead for the defensive duo of Daley Blind and Phil Jones. With United looking to sell Jonny Evans and Phil Jones’ injury record, perhaps backup is needed just incase.

According to ESPN, Manchester United are plotting to hijack Chelsea’s move for the want away Everton man John Stones, who handed in a transfer request yesterday.

Chelsea have had three bids rejected for the 21-year old who has looked extremely solid during his Premier League career thus far – with their highest offer thought to be in excess of £30million.

Manchester United could find themselves in pole position to land the ex-Barnsley man if they offer enough, and Everton could be persuaded if United were to include Jonny Evans in any potential deal as it means they won’t have to hunt for a replacement.
