Manchester United to make January move for Ron Vlaar

Ron Vlaar turned into the one of the stars of the recent World Cup with some superb defensive performances for the Oranje under Louis van Gaal. Now, as we quickly approach the midway point in the season, Van Gaal is keen to reunite with his defensive powerhouse on a domestic level, with United making a move for Vlaar in January.

The news comes from the Sunday Express, who are usually a trusted source when it comes to Manchester United. Vlaar is refusing to commit his future to Aston Villa, and his current deal expires in just eight months time.

Manchester United could look to take advantage of that, and make a bid of around £4million for the 29-year old in January. It is thought that United will face competition for his signature from Arsenal, but Manchester United are in pole position due to the Louis van Gaal factor.

Would Vlaar be a good signing? Leave your thoughts in the comment box below.
