Manchester United to move for Griezmann after Pedro snub

Manchester United’s transfer business has certainly taken a turn for the worst over the last 48 hours, with both Nicolas Otamendi and Pedro Rodriguez ending up at title rivals whilst being heavily touted with a move to Old Trafford.

Whether or not Louis van Gaal actually pulled the plug on a move for Pedro remains to be seen, but it looks as though he isn’t messing around. According to The Telegraph, his attentions have turned to Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid.

Griezmann, 24, is a French forward who can play all across the front line, including the main striker. He made the move to Atleti from Real Sociedad last summer and scored a mightily impressive 25 goals in all competitions in his debut season.

There is no doubting that Griezmann would be one of the signings of the summer if the club can pull this move off, but it’d come at a cost. It is thought that he has an £57million release clause in his current contract – and whether Manchester United are prepared to pay that is an entirely different matter.
