Manchester United told Mats Hummels will cost them £47million

Manchester United have been told that they can sign Mats Hummels, but only if they fork out a huge £47million for the Dortmund defender. The Sun [Subscription Required] reckon that United can have their #1 transfer target, but the hefty fee is certain to put doubt in the minds of Louis van Gaal and Vice-Chairman Edward Woodward.

Mats Hummels was the best defender at the World Cup by a country mile, and what a coup it’d be to our extremely dodgy defence if we could lure a player of his calibre through the old Trafford doors.

He’d certainly set the bar much higher in terms of defensive quality, and his distribution of the ball out from the back is one of the best I’ve seen. It’d also be lovely if we could lure his Dortmund teammate Marco Reus in, too.
