Manchester United as a whole had a solid but unspectacular season last term, with Louis van Gaal taking the reigns and steadying the ship somewhat. This season has started out fantastically, with the Iron Tulip guiding us to the top of the table at this point in time.
Our achievements has seen three players awarded for their performances, as they have been nominated for FIFA’s Ballon D’or shortlist.
The three players included in the 59-man list are captain Wayne Rooney, goalkeeper David de Gea and new-boy Memphis Depay.
Obviously Depay’s nomination comes largely from his stunning season for PSV last term, whereas David de Gea has arguably been the best goalkeeper in the world over the last twelve months.
Wayne Rooney’s nomination is a bit of an odd one. Honestly I’m not sure what he’s done to make him worthy of a Ballon D’or nomination this year, as he has been extremely hit and miss.
