Manchester United trio set to be rested for Sheffield United clash

Manchester United take on Sheffield United tomorrow, and ahead of the game Louis van Gaal gave his pre-match press conference, with plenty of topics up for discussion. He said that Ashley Young is ‘in the red zone’ and would miss out, but Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News has gone one step further.

The journalist has claimed that Morgan Schneiderlin and Michael Carrick will also miss the match as they need to be rested.

I understand Ashley Young, as he has been playing quite a lot over the hectic month of December, but as for Morgan Schneiderlin and Michael Carrick, I’m not so sure.

The pair have hardly played recently, and if they need a rest already then their fitness certainly must come into question – particularly Morgan Schneiderlin, as he is only 25 and approaching the peak of his powers.
