Manchester United trying to offload defensive duo during this window

Mourinho is already moulding the squad in his image, having made four massive signings including Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Now, he has begun work on trimming the squad before the window slams shut on September 2nd.

According to Andy Mitten of ESPN, Manchester United’s new manager is trying to make space in the defensive ranks to bring in Jose Fonte; but that comes at a cost.

He reckons United are trying to offload Marcos Rojo on a permanent deal to make room in the squad for a more experienced defender, like Southampton’s 32-year-old centre-back Fonte.

On top of that, though, Mourinho has also told Cameron Borthwick-Jackson that he is free to leave Old Trafford during this window – but preferably on a loan deal so he can come back next summer.

There will always be tough decisions to make, and the best coaches aren’t afraid to make them. Mourinho will always put sentiment to one side, and although it’d be a shame to see Borthwick-Jackson leave, you’d guess large sections of our fanbase won’t be too fussed about Rojo’s departure.
