Manchester United and Jose Mourinho will grant Anthony Martial permission to leave the club; if that’s truly what the 22-year-old wants.
That’s according to the Daily Mirror, per the Birmingham Mail, who adds that the Martial has lost his place following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez. The Chile international was magnificent at Wembley Stadium this weekend, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be giving up his spot within the line-up any time soon.
It’s been an odd season for Martial. The Frenchman started the campaign brilliantly, scoring goals aplenty off the bench, while putting in some world-class performances from that left-hand side.
However, his growth and development as a footballer has been stunted massively following the aforementioned Sanchez’s arrival. Martial has had to settle for substitute berths, sharing minutes off the bench with Marcus Rashford, who himself has found it tough to break into the side.
Letting Martial leave would be a huge mistake in our opinion. No doubt if he did walk away from Old Trafford, we’d regret it in some way, shape or form in the future, but you simply couldn’t blame him. At this point in time he needs to be playing regular football and United cannot offer him that.
