Manchester United will have to pay a huge £12million to land Ron Vlaar in January, according to The Express. Aston Villa have already resigned to the fact that they will probably lose ‘Concrete Ron’ in the not too distant future, after an extremely impressive World Cup as well as an excellent start to the Premier League campaign.
Vlaar’s contract does expire next season, but judging by his performances on-field, the centre-back is clearly still committed to the cause – there has even been talk that he may pen a new deal before the new year.
Although it doesn’t really stack up in terms of stature against the signings like Radamel Falcao and Angel di Maria, this move is certainly a necessity. Manchester United need a senior centre-back who can keep himself fit for the majority of the season. Vlaar certainly fits the bill.
