Manchester United ready to meet Serie A defender’s £44million release clause this summer: report

Manchester United are ready to meet the £44million release clause to sign right-back, Elseid Hysaj.

That’s what The Sun writes in an exclusive; after Jose Mourinho has prioritised signing a new right-sided defender this coming summer.

The report adds that Matteo Darmian is almost certain to join Juventus. Coupling that with the fact that Antonio Valencia is almost 33, signing a new right-back makes perfect sense.

Full-back prices seem to have shot up recently, probably due to Manchester City spending £50million on both Benjamin Mendy and Kyle Walker, but the latter has been vital to Pep Guardiola this term.

Time and time again United’s wide defenders have cost the Red Devils, particularly in the final third due to their lack of ability to overlap their winger.

Having Hysaj at Manchester United would be a breath of fresh air. He’s emerged as one of the top full-backs in European football this season and bringing him in would certainly be a good start to what is a crucial summer at Old Trafford.

You get the feeling that Mourinho simply has to get this one right. He’s going into his third season at the helm, and overturning City’s reign as Premier League champions isn’t going to be easy…
