Old Trafford has always been a hotbed for young talent. Throughout history, Manchester United have developed teenagers, nurtured abilities and turned them into world-class individuals.
Out of the current crop, arguably the best youth product is Tahith Chong. After an inclusion in the Red Devils’ squad against Juventus, the young Dutchman is seemingly going from strength-to-strength. According to the Manchester Evening News, the 18-year-old attacker has earned his first call-up to the Netherlands U21 international team – and what an honour that must be for him.
Chong is an exciting footballer. Watching him play genuinely is a thing of beauty. He’s a rare talent, someone who can put bums on seats, someone who’ll excite with every touch. When he’s on the ball, you expect something to happen.
It’s no surprise to see him earn his first youth call-up, in fact, I’m somewhat surprised that this hasn’t happened sooner. He has insane potential, and with United’s right-hand side still struggling for consistency, I’d honestly give him his opportunity at first-team level and see what he can do. Let’s be honest, he can’t do any worse than some of the current crop, so what’s the risk?
Absolutely delighted to see Tahith Chong earn his first Netherlands U21 call-up! Deserved. Hopefully, he'll get his chance at #mufc soon! pic.twitter.com/nhkrtTDsGR
