Manchester United’s 20-year-old being targeted by French side Paris Saint-Germain

Manchester United put in yet another convincing performance at home yesterday evening – but this time they backed it up with a victory. The game ended 4-1, with two goals coming courtesy of Anthony Martial, who looked back at his brilliant best.

The Frenchman looked confident, wasn’t scared to run at players and have a go on goal. His efforts were rewarded with two exquisitely finished goals in the second half to help his side to an EFL Cup semi-final.

However, fresh off the back of that, The Sun say that the 20-year-old forward is being targeted by French side Paris Saint-Germain for a potential transfer. The report says that their interest in Martial is well documented, as they also wanted to try and sign him last summer, but he moved to Old Trafford instead.

The Sun add that he has fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho after poor performances this season, and they even quote a United source:

“It is well known PSG are very keen if the club does consider selling.”

“He has been dropped recently against Feyenoord and West Ham and has generally struggled for form.”

In my opinion, this is just tabloid gossip. I think that Jose Mourinho is a fan of Martial’s, hence why he kept handing him starts at the beginning of the season despite poor performances.

It sounds odd, but the injury he had could have helped him. It allowed the youngster to step away from the limelight for a while, and now he’s back and he looks hungry once again.

If the striker can rediscover his form from last season, I have no doubts that he’ll be a regular fixture in the starting line-up from here on out – because that’s how good he is.
