Manchester United Football Club had a very busy summer transfer window in terms of incomings. Jose Mourinho brought in some extremely gifted players, including Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Now it looks as though the squad is about to be trimmed down.
That’s according to the Birmingham Mail, who say that 23-year-old goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has expressed a desire in leaving Old Trafford on a loan deal at the very least.
Johnstone has been linked with a short-term deal with Championship side Aston Villa, who are struggling at this point in time, and you certainly feel that’d be an excellent move for the Englishman.
He is at that point in his career where regular football is a must, and unfortunately, he isn’t getting that at the Theatre of Dreams at the moment which must be bitterly disappointing for him.
The shot-stopper is an excellent goalkeeper, and you always felt he had what it takes to make it at the highest level, but when you have one of the best in the world in front of you in the form of David de Gea, it certainly doesn’t help his case.
