Manchester United’s 23-year-old hints at permanent move away from Old Trafford

Manchester United have made plenty of brilliant transfers already during this window, with Jose sanctioning moves for the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba. However, alongside that, we have to expect plenty of players being sold to balance the books.

One man who could well be on his way is the young goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. He has been at United for years, and is immensely talented, but has never been given his big chance to improve.

Now he has been speaking to the Manchester Evening News, and has hinted at a potential move away from Old Trafford as he seeks regular game time.

Johnstone is out of contract next summer and it doesn’t look as though a new deal is currently on the table for him. When you couple that information with the fact that he has played for five Football League sides on loan, it hints that the club don’t fully believe in his abilities as a number one.

When you have David de Gea in front of you, it’s always going to be tough to force your way in. Perhaps a move away is in his best interests, because he needs to be playing week-in-week-out in competitive matches, rather than rotting in the reserves.
