Manchester United Football Club spent big on the attacking third over the summer, with Jose Mourinho bringing in both Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to come in and change things. We are also yet to see the best out of Henrikh Mkhitaryan who hasn’t featured all that much.
That has led to a dip in minutes and form for Wayne Rooney, with the 31-year-old being benched over the last few weeks. In turn, that has meant other clubs have shown an interest in securing the services of the current Manchester United captain, and this latest offer on the table is an absolutely colossal one.
According to the Daily Mirror, Sven Goran-Eriksson is set to give Rooney a way out of the Theatre of Dreams, allowing him the chance to ply his trade in the Chinese league playing for Shanghai SIPG.
The offer that is believed to be on the table is worth a whopping £500,000-a-week plus commercial bonuses – which could well be tempting for a man who is rapidly approaching the latter years of his professional career.
