As we all know, Manchester United were dumped out of the Champions League in mediocre fashion, with fan pressure clearly building on Louis van Gaal. The influential Dutchman has been struggling recently, with the side now facing Europa League action come February.
There are 32 teams still left in the competition, and the draw for that round was made earlier today. Manchester United have been pitted against Danish side FC Midtjylland, who currently sit third in their league.
The incredible thing about Midtjylland is the fact that they were only formed sixteen years ago – the season in which Manchester Unted won the famous treble.
The games will take place mid-February with the away leg coming first in Denmark. If Louis van Gaal is to take this competition seriously, the draw certainly couldn’t have been any better for the manager, who certainly needs to deliver some form of trophy this campaign.
