Manchester United’s interest in winger confirmed by his agent

Jose Mourinho has already begun making a big impression at Manchester United in the transfer market, with the self-proclaimed Special One trying to bring in players as quickly as possible. The latest player to emerge as a target is Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Now his agent Mino Raiola has had his say on the situation, and has confirmed that Manchester United are interested in signing his client during this summer.

“It would be a sin to stop talking,” Raiola said. “I am a positive guy. If I wasn’t confident of reaching some kind of conclusion, I wouldn’t try.

“I am very proud Manchester United want him and the talks are being held in a good atmosphere, but at the moment Dortmund are still saying no.”

The Armenian attacker has just twelve months to run on his current contract out in Germany, meaning he could leave for free next summer if Dortmund choose to keep hold of him.

However, Raiola clearly believes that a move could be forced through if all parties want it enough, and what a signing it would be. Mkhitaryan would suit the Premier League perfectly. He has that physicality required, a brilliant footballing intelligence and can play in multiple positions across the front line.

Hopefully Jose Mourinho and Edward Woodward can get this deal done because it’d be a stunning bit of business – especially without Champions League football on offer.
