Manchester United’s interest in Ivan Perisic has emerged recently, with Sky Sports’ sources seeming pretty clear that Jose Mourinho does indeed want the player. The 28-year-old, who currently plies his trade for Inter Milan would be an astute bit of business if the Red Devils can pull it off.
Now, Inter Milan’s director Piero Ausilio has had his say on the situation. He has confirmed that United are in fact interested in the Croatia international, but no concrete offer has been placed on the table as of yet.
‘[United] haven’t made us an official offer for Perisic but their interest is there,’ Ausilio told Premium Sport, as per The Metro.
‘We want to improve Inter and this is why we do not have any sellable or un-sellable players as of now.’
‘We know that we already have many important players within our roster like Perisic and before we decide to sell him, we have to think about what’s best for Inter.’
This is interesting, because it’s clear that Mourinho wants to sign Perisic, and Ausilio also suggests that he would be more than willing to part with the winger if the right offer comes in.
In my opinion, it looks like a deal could well be done if all parties can agree on a fee, and although there is still a long way to go this is definitely a good starting point.
All eyes were on Perisic last night as Milan absolutely destroyed Udinese 5-2 at home, and my did the player deliver. He scored one goal, whilst tacking on two assists for his teammates in a game that his side dominated from start to finish.
Whilst watching him, it was clear where his strengths lie. Perisic is quick, decisive, clever and very skilful. Perhaps his biggest two assets are his deadly deliveries into the box coupled with a willingness to work hard on both sides of the ball; and that is probably why Jose Mourinho is a great admirer of his.
