Manchester United lost the Manchester derby in somewhat of a poor manner at the weekend, with the first half in particular being extremely frustrating. One man at the heart of the controversy was Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who just couldn’t get a foothold on the match at all.
The Armenian found himself hooked off at half-time down to that poor performance, but there may have been another factor playing a huge part.
The Times say that the 27-year-old is injured, and if that is the same injury he was carrying from international duty, it proves that Mkhitaryan just was not ready to play in this match.
It is solely down to Jose Mourinho for picking a player who clearly wasn’t fit enough to feature, and that has had a further consequence as he is now missing for our next three fixtures.
Hopefully, Henrikh doesn’t get too bogged down by the situation and comes back fighting upon his return to the first-team in ten days time, because situations like this can really hinder you before things really get going.
