Manchester United spent big money in the summer to bring in the little-known Anthony Martial from AS Monaco, with the 20-year old making instant impact. He has been speaking to the media about his time at United, and despite being versatile, he has reaffirmed the belief that playing up front is his favourite position.
“I am a striker but I love playing wide. The main thing is wherever I play I enjoy it and help the team.” Martial said.
At the end of the day there was no doubts that Martial was brought in predominantly as a striker, and over the years you’d expect him to play in that spot more than anywhere else on the field.
However at this point in time Louis van Gaal is opting to use him out wide, where he is extremely threatening thanks to his pace and ability to run at his defender and cause plenty of problems.
