Widespread reports coming out of the media are all suggesting that Louis van Gaal is due to lose his Manchester United job imminently, with Jose Mourinho coming in. However United’s captain Wayne Rooney has leapt to the defence of the Iron Tulip – and rightly so.
“My knowledge about that is nothing at all. That’s a question for Louis van Gaal.” Wayne Rooney began.
“I don’t want to speak about Louis van Gaal leaving. He’s still our manager and I think it’s a bit unfair after we’ve just won the FA Cup to speak about him as if he isn’t here.”
“I think he’s a good manager. I’m grateful he’s helped us win this FA Cup. We’ve had a taste of success now and hopefully that can kick us on to win more.”
The handling of the whole situation has been nothing short of diabolical. We all know that Louis van Gaal is struggling here, and hasn’t made anywhere near the impression that many thought he would – and thats a shame but he has to go. The club could’ve done a lot better here though.
As you’d imagine, Wayne Rooney is a consummate professional and he isn’t going to speak to the media and begin boasting about Jose Mourinho, and its nice to see him back Van Gaal.
All of the players will be grateful for the Dutchman, as at the end of the day he has delivered the club a trophy that they haven’t won for twelve years, and thats massive.
