According to the Express, 27-year old striker Mario Mandzukic is being monitored by Manchester United and Arsenal. This comes the day after Robert Lewandowski signed his pre-contract agreement to move to Bayern Munich in the summer, paving the way for Mandzukic to leave Bavaria.
As you’d expect, Lewandowski’s arrival at Bayern will see Mandzukic’s game time limited to minutes off the bench, and starts in cup competitions – something that may force the Croat into a move away. Although a deal could be agreed in this window, the probability of a move happening is very slim, and will probably be on hold until the summer.
Personally I cannot see us signing another striker unless we sell one first. Wayne Rooney still wants out of Manchester United, and Javier Hernandez has seen his playing time limited due to having three strikers in front of him, but both of those two are far better than Mandzukic in my opinion, so replacing either of those would be a step down.
This really is silly season. Cant see this ever happening…..surely?
