Manuel Ugarte is now among the priority targets for Man United this summer, with the midfielder told he can leave PSG.
Manchester United need signings in a variety of positions this summer. Erik ten Hag has to strengthen his midfield area, largely due to the fact that both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are getting older. There’s also a chance one (or both) could leave.
Several names have been linked with an Old Trafford switch in that area of the field, with Manuel Ugarte feeling like the lead candidate as things stand.
The PSG man finds his name in the media again, with Florian Plettenberg providing an update on the future of the Uruguayan via his social media.
According to his information, the 23-year-old is now a ‘serious transfer target’ for United. On top of that, talks have taken place internally at PSG, with the player now told he can leave the Ligue 1 club this summer.

Talks took place as the 23 y/o can leave @PSG_inside this summer. #MUFC want to strengthen the central midfield!
📍There are also rumors about Ugarte and FC Bayern but currently he‘s… pic.twitter.com/MOmM4GXZCR
Ugarte is a defence-first midfielder by trade. He loves mopping up and doing the dirty work, while putting in tackles to help protect the back four. He’s energetic, a good passer and an excellent all-round talent. United could certainly do worse.
The fact that PSG are open to his sale could suggest United can secure Ugarte’s signing at a value typically lower than his market cost, which is ideal in a window where money is thought to be tight for the Old Trafford club.
Let’s hope INEOS now push on and get this deal over the line as soon as possible, allowing United to allocate more resources to other potential signings during this window.
