Man United are seemingly closing in on a move to sign Manuel Ugarte from PSG.
Manchester United Football Club have made some key additions this summer, though the Red Devils are yet to acquire a new central midfielder. With one week left in the transfer window, it feels like it’s Manuel Ugarte or nothing at this point…
Sander Berge was linked, though he has since moved to Fulham. Ugarte’s name has consistently remained in the media, though there have been concerns about his valuation, believed to be around £51m.
PSG have remained firm on their asking price all summer, though with time running out in the window, you’d like to think the French champions and United could find some common ground.
Perhaps a deal has now been struck. Journalist Fabrice Hawkins has provided an update on that front, claiming that Ugarte has now been left out of PSG’s match day squad against Montpellier this weekend. The journo states he’s now ‘due to leave’ for United, before the close of the summer transfer window.

This does feel like a breakthrough has been made as under normal circumstances, there’s no way Ugarte would be left out of a 21-man squad for PSG.
The man from Uruguay has either told PSG his head isn’t in it right now, or the two clubs have come to some agreement.
Recently, there has been claims suggesting that Ugarte could potentially join on loan with an obligation to buy next summer. That could help United stick to Premier League spending rules, though it could impact the club negatively in twelve months’ time.
