Marcel Sabitzer out of Real Betis first leg through injury

Marcel Sabitzer will be unavailable for Man United for their game vs Real Betis tomorrow.

For Manchester united, the matches are still coming thick and fast. The Old Trafford club turn their attentions back to the Europa League this midweek, with the first of a double-header against Real Betis taking place tomorrow.

This two-legged tie will not be easy. Real Betis are here on merit, with United looking to bounce back and send out a real message in the game over in Spain.

This is a true test for Erik ten Hag’s side, to see whether they have the mental toughness to overcome recent adversity. This team last year would have wilted under the pressure. I fully expect this group to bounce back and send out a real message.

Sadly, United will have to do it without Marcel Sabitzer. Ten Hag confirmed the injury blow in his pre-match press conference, adding that there is ‘disappointment’ that the player is ‘not available’ for this clash.

Check out what the gaffer had to say in full here on the Marcel Sabitzer injury:

“We have a strong programme,” Ten Hag told the media, including ManUtd.com. “But I think we are quite good. The only disappointment is Marcel Sabitzer is not available, as well as Anthony Martial.

The severity of the injury is not yet known, while we don’t know how long Sabitzer will be out for.

I’d like to think that the problem isn’t a long-term one, though it’s still gutting as this is a game that Sabitzer will have likely started and I really wanted to see more of the Austrian in action.

Let’s hope the problem isn’t too serious and he’s back out on the field soon.
