Marco Reus could be available for under £20million, after details of the release clause in his contract were leaked – according to the Daily Mail. The German winger has had two excellent years with his boyhood club Borussia Dortmund, but could be on the move before the transfer window slams shut.
Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Liverpool are known admirers of Reus, but it is thought that Borussia Dortmund want to keep hold of their star man for another season at the very minimum.
I’d love Marco Reus at Manchester United, but there would be a concern about how he’d fit into Louis van Gaal’s 5-3-2 formation. He doesn’t have the defensive abilities to play as a wingback, we already have an abundance of #10s and I can’t really see him being good enough to play as a striker.
It is widely expected that when Louis van Gaal has had a full season to assess the squad, and implement his own ideas he’ll switch to the 4-3-3 when he can bring in his own players. That’d certainly suit Marco Reus & Manchester United Football Club much more.
Reus, 25, suffered a serious injury in the lead-up to the World Cup which ruled him out of the tournament, but has since returned to first-team training ahead of the new season.
