Marcos Rojo ‘fuming’ as deadline day Man United exit falls through: report

For Manchester United, deadline day was rather quiet. The fans were craving for perhaps one or two new faces but in the end nothing concrete materialised.

In terms of outgoings, there was much talk about a potential Marcos Rojo exit. The Argentine has made just 18 appearances over the last two seasons at Old Trafford – and it finally looked like he’d be on his way out as a move to Everton felt close.

However, the transfer fell through on deadline day and Rojo isn’t happy… The story comes from the Daily Mail, who claim that the 29-year-old was left ‘fuming’ after the deal collapsed.

Apparently, a loan move to Everton was put in place but United changed the deal parameters, presumably as they wanted a permanent move away for the Argentina international.

The Reds have made a rod for their own back. When you give new, big-money contracts to squad players, it’s always going to be tough to find a potential buyer.

Rojo is perhaps the prime example. He’s collecting around £80,000-a-week for barely any minutes. He’s not good enough for the top clubs while the next tier down cannot justify paying those wages. But, if the offer wasn’t right then the power is with the club and United have to make the final decision. Maybe the Argentine will still get his wish as don’t forget, the European window is still open for a few weeks yet…
